Delete Account & Data
Nourish is built with a privacy-first architecture. Unlike most apps, we don't maintain user accounts on our servers. Your personal data (food logs, recipes, weight, goals) is stored only on your device and optionally in your personal iCloud account.
This page explains how to completely remove all your data from Nourish and any associated services.
Understanding Your Data
Here's where your Nourish data is stored:
| Data Type | Storage Location | How to Delete |
|---|---|---|
| Food logs, recipes, weight, goals | Your device only | Delete the app |
| Group memberships & shared progress | Your iCloud account | Leave groups, then delete app |
| Device authentication tokens | Our servers (anonymous) | Auto-expire after 90 days |
Step-by-Step Data Deletion
Step 1: Leave Any Groups (If Applicable)
If you've joined any Nourish groups, leave them first to remove your shared data from other members' view:
- Open Nourish and go to the Groups tab
- Tap on each group you're a member of
- Scroll down and tap Leave Group
- Confirm when prompted
Note: If you created a group, you may need to transfer ownership or delete the group entirely.
Step 2: Sign Out of Apple ID (Optional)
If you used Sign in with Apple for group features, you can revoke access:
- Open your device Settings app
- Tap your name at the top (Apple ID)
- Tap Sign-In & Security
- Tap Sign in with Apple
- Find Nourish and tap Stop Using Apple ID
Step 3: Delete the App
Deleting the Nourish app will remove:
- All food logs and daily entries
- All custom foods and recipes
- Weight and water tracking history
- Your profile and goals
- Achievement and streak data
- All locally cached data
To delete the app:
- Find the Nourish app on your home screen
- Long-press the app icon until a menu appears
- Tap Remove App or Delete App
- Confirm by tapping Delete
Step 4: Remove iCloud Data (Optional)
If you want to ensure all iCloud-synced group data is removed:
- Open Settings on your device
- Tap your name (Apple ID) at the top
- Tap iCloud
- Tap Manage Account Storage
- Find and tap Nourish
- Tap Delete Data
What Happens to Server-Side Data?
Device Authentication Tokens
When you use Nourish, we issue an anonymous device token for API authentication. This token:
- Is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID
- Cannot be used to identify you personally
- Automatically expires and is deleted after 90 days of inactivity
No action is required - these tokens are automatically cleaned up.
Analytics Data
We use TelemetryDeck for privacy-focused analytics. This data:
- Contains no personal information (no name, email, or user ID)
- Cannot be linked back to you
- Is aggregated usage statistics only (e.g., "feature X was used N times")
AI Food Analysis
If you used the AI food photo feature, your images were:
- Sent to Google or OpenAI for analysis
- Not stored by Nourish - only the nutrition results were returned
- Subject to Google/OpenAI's data retention policies (typically 30 days for API logs)

- Your weight, height, or body measurements
- Your health goals or dietary preferences
- Your recipes or custom foods
- Your location data
